KARIMNAGAR: Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University K. Rajagopal has said that the university is making strides in technological education and is placed second in the country after securing `A' grade from the NAAC of UGC. Participating as chief guest at the Freshers Day celebrations of Vivekananda Institute of Technological Sciences (VITS) at Bommakal on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Tuesday, the Vice-Chancellor said JNTU was lauded by the NAAC committee for its quality education. He also said EAMCET toppers were according priority to JNTU for pursuing their engineering education.
Reforms
With regard to the reforms introduced in the university, he said all measures had been taken to ensure exams free of question paper leakage with the help of computers. Four sets of question papers are prepared and one of them is released only an hour before the examination.
He also said examination papers were evaluated twiceand the process was completed within 26 days against the target of one month. The university had embarked on the ambitious task of introducing best syllabus depending on the demand in the market with the introduction of language laboratories, environmental sciences, mini-projects and industry-oriented classes. Special training was being imparted to the JNTU faculty members to improve the quality of education. Expert lectures were recorded sent to the colleges. Top priority was being accorded to research by providing admission to 100 research scholars this year for the award of PhDs.
Training for teachers
Collector C. Parthasarathi called upon the student community to think positively and excel in their education. He also stressed on the need for creativity for students to excel in their career. VITS principal C. Venkataramana Reddy, chairman B.S. Ananda Rao and others were also present.
