The State and the Centre should work together to ensure that adequate relief reaches the people affected by floods, Vijaykanth, founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) said on Monday. Visiting some of the flood affected areas in the southern suburbs of Chennai, he said that everybody, irrespective of political affiliations, should work for the relief and rehabilitation of the affected people. Mr. Vijaykanth said the State Government could not carry out distribution of relief alone and the Centre too should pitch in. The 40 members of Parliament from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry should urge the Centre to release adequate funds for relief, he said. Mr. Vijaykanth said he would launch an agitation if the affected people were not provided adequate relief.
