KANNUR: The Kerala Land Revenue Staff Association (KLRSA) will conduct a two-day State-level camp at Madayi here from December 10 with the objective of preparing the Revenue Department staff for the association's goal of making Revenue offices corruption-free. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, association State vice-president K.T. Anil Kumar and district president K.R. Raveendran said that 300 delegates, including village men and Deputy Collectors would attend the camp being held at the Vadi Huda Higher Secondary School at Madayi. They said that the Government was not prepared to appoint adequate staff in the Revenue Department despite the fact that village offices and taluk offices continued to be the offices having greater interaction with the public. The Government was yet to outline the kind of works that village officers should do, they said adding that the existing situation in Revenue offices were not good enough for carrying out the requirements of hundreds of people visiting these offices every day. Admitting that the corrupt practices of a marginal section of Revenue staff were earning a bad name for the entire department, they said the camp was part of a drive for creating awareness against corruption. The camp would also finalise future course of action on the association's demands, including the raising of the status of village officers and tahsildars.
