Equipment failure blamed for train tragedy

NEW DELHI: The accident suffered by Repalle-Secunderabad Delta Fast Passenger Train between Ramannapet and Valigonda stations of South Central Railway on October 29 was due to failure of equipment/ structure failure of Ramasamudram tank and the railway bridge. One hundred and fifteen passengers were killed in the accident. This is the provisional finding of R. P. Agrawal, Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Central Circle, who is holding a statutory enquiry into the colossal tragedy. Mr. Aggarwal has submitted the preliminary report recording the finding to the Railway Ministry.
