HYDERABAD: MIM members staged a walkout in the Assembly on Tuesday protesting against the Government's attitude in not accept their demand for adopting a resolution seeking to rebuild the Babri Masjid at the same spot. Earlier, four party members protested near the Speaker's podium and raised slogans when the House met after two adjournments. Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy disallowed an adjournment notice given by MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. After he was permitted to speak, Mr. Owaisi wanted the House adjourned or a resolution passed, as the incident was `a blot on democracy' and hurt the country's secular fabric. He urged all secular parties to take part in the MIM's agitation. He charged the Congress with failing to fulfil its promise of rebuilding the mosque and paying only "lip sympathy."
Issue before court: YSR
The Speaker told Mr. Owaisi that everybody respected his sentiments and wanted him to register his protest and close the issue. Intervening, the Chief Minister shared the MIM leader's concern and recalled the resolution passed by the Assembly in 1992 condemning the demolition of the mosque. He pointed out that as the issue was before the Supreme Court no point would be served by passing another resolution.
