MYL takes out march to AI office

Staff Reporter

Protest against hike in air fare

KOZHIKODE: Kerala State Muslim Youth League (MYL) took out a march to Air-India (AI) office here on Tuesday to protest against what the organisation termed ``AI's cruelty to the Haj passengers.''

P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP. inaugurated the march. State president of MYL Syed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal presided. The organisation's contention is that it was not right on the part of Air-India to hike the charges at a time when Haj pilgrimage was due. It demanded that Air-India withdraw from its moves to levy `excess charge' from Haj pilgrims.

It also demanded that the passengers are subjected to hardships following last minute rescheduling of Haj schedules.

Disband Haj panel

The Yuva Janata Dal demanded that the State Haj Committee be dissolved for its ``irresponsible'' behaviour of rescheduling of Haj flight schedule. The Haj pilgrims from the State are in difficulty due to the rescheduling of journey.

The committee has in fact `harassed' the Haj pilgrims by rescheduling the journey a day before the scheduled date, Yuva Janata Dal district general secretary Salim Madavur said in a statement here on Tuesday.
