DHARWAD: As many as 530 students will be receiving their degrees in person during the 56th convocation of the Karnataka University to be held here on Wednesday. Vice-Chancellor M. Khajapeer told presspersons here on Tuesday that 25,505 students will get their degrees in various subjects in absentia. Thirty-one undergraduate students will get 41 gold medals and 50 postgraduate students will get 102 gold medals. One Ph. D student and three diploma students will receive gold medals, he said. At a function to be held on Wednesday, 69 students will get 70 scholarships, 36 students will receive 44 prizes and 92 students will be awarded ranks, he said.
Convocation address
The former Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, V.K. Aatre, will deliver the convocation address. Governor T.N. Chaturvedi will preside over the function and Higher Education Minister D. Manjunath will be present, Mr. Khajapeer said. To a question, the Vice-Chancellor said the university will honorary doctorate degrees to Justice S. Rajendra Babu, former Chief Justice of India; Sudhamurthy, Chairperson of Infosys Foundation and Sri Annadanishwar Swamiji of Mundargi. for conferring honorary doctorate degrees during the convocation.
