NEW DELHI: Atoning for their sins by doling out money to beggars at Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai proved to be the undoing of a father-son duo who had allegedly duped several small farmers at Najafgarh here to the tune of Rs. 3 crores had been arrested. More than a year ago, the Criminal Breach of Trust Section of the EOW had received complaints from 37 small farmers at Najafgarh grain market in South-West Delhi alleging that a father-son duo, Kishori Lal and Satish Kumar, working as commission agents had procured grains and oilseeds from them and sold them to bigger merchants. However, instead of returning their share in the profits, the duo simply vanished from the scene along with their families. Investigations by the CBT also failed to yield results initially. However, on November 25, Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar received a tip-off that the accused were staying with their families at Thane in Maharashtrai. A team was sent there and the duo arrested. The accused had cheated other persons in a similar manner at Kota in Rajasthan.
Held for auto-thefts
Four persons, including sons of railway employees, have been arrested by the South Delhi police for allegedly being involved in auto-thefts. The police have recovered a Maruti Esteem car, 11 motorcycles and two scooters at the instance of the accused.
