Tributes paid to Ambedkar

VIJAYAWADA: Dalits have been able to make social, economic and political progress because of the foresight of B.R. Ambedkar, says Congress city president Pyla Sominaidu.

Paying floral tributes to the Father of the Indian Constitution at a programme organised to observe his 49th death anniversary here on Tuesday, Mr. Sominaidu said that Ambedkar had dedicated his life for the uplift of poor and downtrodden and for eradication of untouchability.

Congress SC cell district chairman Ummadi Dhanraj, OBC cell Sate co-chairman Ilapuram Venkaiah, party whip in the municipal corporation Meesala Rajeswara Rao, corporators S.P. Gritton, B. Salomi, co-opted member K. Charamma, former corporator Gangavarapu Adam and former Congress SC cell district president Varkala Adam paid tributes to the late leader.
