Land acquisition for Telugu Ganga project stepped up

Staff Reporter

Nellore: The officials of Telugu Ganga Project (land acquisition), Nellore, have stepped up the process of land acquisition, following instructions from Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao who visited Nellore last week.

A number of public representatives pleaded for stepping up the land acquisition process as the Government had been following a time-bound policy to complete the irrigation projects.

It was brought to the notice of the Minister that there was a shortage of surveyors and some from Revenue Department have been deputed for the TGP work.

Training programme

A training programme commenced here on Tuesday, for 30 surveyors, who were briefed about the nature of acquisition and problems involved in the process. An area of 2,664 acres of land remained to be taken over by the project officials.

The surveyors were impressed upon the need for action plans and the methodology to be followed. Each of the participant was also given a tool kit and other information, pertaining to land survey.
