MANGALORE: Surathkal MLA J. Krishna Palemar has urged the Government to waive the Ashraya house loan availed by people who surrendered their lands for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL). project at Kuthethur near here in 1992. In a press release here, Mr. Palemar said the Government had acquired agriculture lands and houses for setting up the MRPL project. He said that nearly 650 families had surendered their property and were subsequently rehabilitated in Chelyaru rehabilitation colony, Mr. Palemar said these families have been given financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 under Ashraya housing scheme. Assistance included loan component of Rs. 10,000 and the rest was grants.
