THE BANGALORE district branch of Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India has been selected the best in the country. Asha Benkappa, district coordinator, gets the award for her efforts to create awareness and break myths and remove misconceptions about new mothers nursing their babies. She has launched a "Lactation Helpline" that provides help to young mothers misguided about breastfeeding. She is also regularly featured on Kannada TV channels where she advocates the cause dearest to her.
