600 new designs of silk sarees

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society Limited (Co-optex) has introduced over 600 new designs of silk sarees in connection with Christmas and New Year.

Each of these 600 designs would be made in six colours, thereby making a collection of 3,600 exclusive saris available for sale.

Discounts up to 25 per cent would be provided as an introductory offer. The saris have been priced in the range of Rs.1,200 to Rs.40,000.

Highlights of the silk sari exhibition-cum-sale that opened on Monday are the `Kairavi' designs the `Thirunaal' saris. Besides, traditional Kalakshetra designs have also been woven. "Till this date, we have had sales worth Rs.23 crores more than last year," said V.Varaprasada Rao, Managing Director, Co-optex.
