Conference on concrete technology

CHENNAI:
SRM Institute of Science and Technology is organising an international conference on ``Recent Advances in Concrete and Construction Technology'' from December 7 to 9 at the college premises in Kattankulathur.
"Nearly 75 delegates from India will present papers," said pro-Vice Chancellor T.P. Ganesan.
He said the aim of the conference was to highlight the trends in the construction sector, including introduction of new materials for construction.
Mr. Ganesan added that the civil engineering department had undertaken a research project on use of discarded polythene bags in road construction.
The two-day seminar will have eight sessions, comprising eight keynote addresses and 74 presentations on various themes including materials technology, structural systems and behaviour.
Prof. R.K.Dhir from the University of Dundee (U.K.), Prof. Susan L. Tighe from University of Waterloo (Canada) and Prof. N.E. Shanmugam from the University of Kebangsaan (Malaysia) are some of the leading names scheduled to take part in the conference.
