Hanuman idol stolen

Thieves broke into Anjaneya Swami temple at Allamthotabawi in Begumpet and took away a bronze statue of Hanuman god weighing five kilos. According to a complaint lodged by the temple committee, the temple was closed on Sunday night after performing pooja. Next morning, the priest found the door lock broken and the idol stolen, the Begumpet police said.

Jewellery, cash taken away

Gold ornaments weighing six tolas and Rs. 6,000 were stolen in house-breaking by day at Malakpet Government quarters on Monday. The house owner is a Government schoolteacher. While he was away in school, his wife Shobha went out to bring back children from the school. On return, she found the door lock broken and the property lifted from the almirah, the Malakpet police said.

Train runs over man

An unidentified man aged about 20 years was killed when an MMTS train hit him while he was crossing the track near Vidyanagar on Tuesday. He wore a black shirt and white trousers.
