`Selections under Model Villages biased'
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Ranga Reddy Zilla Parishad Chairman K. Gnaneswar and Parigi MLA K.R. Eswar Reddy have condemned what they called unilateral selection of villages for development under the `Model Villages' scheme.
Talking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, Mr. Eswar Reddy said that the objective of GO 360 of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development was to develop backward villages by providing infrastructure facilities.
The district in-charge Minister, it was said, would make the final selection from the list compiled by a committee. "But, we have been given a list of villages already selected under the scheme.
And most of them have turned out to be those headed by Congress sarpanches or those belonging to Congress leaders which had already been fairly developed," they said.
