Training programme

CHENNAI: ABK AOTS DOSOKAI Tamil Nadu Centre will organise a one-day training programme on `Lean Manufacturing Process' on December 17 at their centre on Nelson Manickam Road. For details, contact 044-23740318/23743575.

Painting classes

Mogappair Industrial School will conduct a free workshop on reverse glass and mural painting on December 8. Training will also be given in vegetable block painting and embroidery. They will be on from December 9 to 11.

Bank fete

The Tamil Nadu State Apex Cooperative Bank's Villivakkam branch observed branch day after having completed 21 years. The bank also celebrated its 100th anniversary celebration on November 26 at the branch premises.

Workshop

Bala Vihar Special School at Kilpauk, involved in providing care and education to mentally challenged children, will organise a workshop on `Awareness on Mental Retardation' for primary teachers of Corporation schools on the occasion of National Day for Mentally Retarded on December 8.

Music and poetry

It is `Word & Chord' at British Council's Culture Café poetry circle on December 7 at 7 p.m. As part of the Buzz series, BC and Hutch along with Taj Connemara, Unwind Centre and Barista, presents a `spoken performance' that will merge music with poetry. Readers Yog Japee and Rashmi Devadasan will be joined by David Pascal (vocal), Vijji Cheyyur (guitar, keyboard) and Saroop (vocal, guitar). Passes are available at the British Council and at Hutch showrooms.

Environment quiz

The Environmental Information System Centre in collaboration with Loyola College will organise a poster exhibition and quiz contest on `Environment and Related Issues' on December 12. Handicrafts exhibition

To popularise traditional handicrafts and to promote craftsmen, Craft Bazaar is holding an exhibition at Corporation Hall, C. P. Ramaswamy Road, R. A. Puram, Alwarpet. Artisans from different parts of the country have displayed their wares showcasing their talents. The fair, which began on December 1, will go till December 9.

Student found hanging

A first-year biotechnology student studying in an engineering college at Kattankolathur was found hanging in his hostel room on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the hostel warden, Mr.Raja, lodged a complaint with the Maraimalai Nagar police that the student, Sridhar (18) of Tirupathi, was found dead in his room. Police rushed to the hostel and removed the body for post-mortem.
