NEW DELHI: The senior-most Additional Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, Jyoti Krishan Dutt, took charge of the premier investigating agency on Tuesday following the retirement of Uma Shankar Misra who completed his two-year tenure. While Mr. Dutt has been made the officiating director, he will enjoy complete powers of Director and will remain at the post till the Government takes a formal decision. Mr. Dutt told mediapersons that the priority of the agency would be rooting out corruption in high public places and working towards repatriating terrorists and fugitives. Praising the efforts of his predecessor, Mr. Dutt said issuing of new notice, higher than the usual red-corner notice, which the Interpol has agreed upon would be of great help in extraditing terrorists. According to a CBI spokesperson, the outgoing Director tried to give a new direction to the agency through preventive vigilance and employee welfare measures.
