Identification parade

of blast accused

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police will hold a Test Identification Parade (TIP) of a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant arrested in connection with the October 29 Delhi serial blasts case tomorrow.

Special Cell ACP S K Tewari, also the Investigating Officer of the case, today moved an application seeking the TIP of Rafiq before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court in Tis Hazari.

Police sources said the TIP will be conducted inside the Tihar Jail complex tomorrow.

Held on graft charge

NEW DELHI: A Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employee was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of the State Government on Tuesday for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs. 600 from a rickshaw puller to release his rickshaw.

In a sting operation, a Hindi TV news channel had on March 19 shown Vijender Singh, whose job was to impound violating rickshaws, taking bribe from a rickshaw puller to release his vehicle without issuing a cash receipt.

Cop ends life

NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old constable allegedly committed suicide at his Mangolpuri residence in North-West Delhi on Tuesday. The police found a suicide note in which he said he was suffering from depression due to marital discord.

According to the police, Constable Anil consumed some poisonous substance. Enquiries revealed that about four days ago, he had gone to Jhajjar in Haryana to reach a compromise with his wife. However, she allegedly lodged a complaint against him at the local police station.

Clash at Mehrauli

NEW DELHI: About half a dozen people sustained injuries in a clash at Mehrauli in South Delhi on Monday night. The police have detained some persons.

According to the police, the clash was the fallout of a dispute between two cousins over who would get boring done for water first. Around 7-30 p.m. on Monday when a government earth boring machine reached Mehrauli, one of the accused said he would get the boring done first,this led to a scuffle between them. People from both sides soon joined and stabbed each other.

Ganja seized

NEW DELHI: A man was arrested at Noida T-point near Akshardham Temple in East Delhi on charges of dealing in drugs. The police claim to have recovered 19 kg of ganja from his possession.

The accused, Islam Mian, is a resident of Yamuna Khadar jhuggi. During interrogation, he allegedly disclosed that the consignment had been sent from Narkatiaganj in Bihar on board the Saptrishi Express two days ago.
