Congress flayed on price hike

MACHILIPATNAM: State secretary of the Telugu Desam Party G. Chandra Rao, at a press conference here on Tuesday, strongly criticised the State Government for its `miserable failure' in controlling prices of essential commodities.

He said that the TDP was demanding scrapping of G.O. 170 in the interest of farmers. He said that the Congress Government was `shedding crocodile tears' towards farmers. Unemployment problem was causing panic among the educated unemployed.

He said that the TDP would continue its stir up to 20th of this month and organise dharnas in all mandals to highlight the `inefficiency' of the Congress Government.

He said that the Congress Government had scrapped the allotment of funds for BC scholarships for students, whereas the erstwhile TDP Government had allocated nearly Rs. 450 crores for the purpose. He said that prices of vegetables went up abnormally in rythu bazars.

Former Minister N. NarashimhaRao, former MP A. Brahmaniah, former Municipal Chairman B. Arjunudu and others participated in a dharna in front of district Collectorate and submitted a memorandum to the district officials.
