`People are against Abbi Falls scheme'

Madikeri: The Cauvery Sene and the Kodagu Anekatu Virodhi Samiti are organising a convention here on Friday to express opposition to the Abbi Falls mini hydroelectric project, construction of which is under way.

Raghu Machaiah of the Samiti told presspersons here on Thursday that the Government had given green signal to the private company now taking up the construction work much against the will of the people.

The two organisations would also oppose 14 other mini hydroelectric projects, proposed in Kodagu.
