Politicians and people

The view that politicians are also an extension of their people and they reflect all the good and evil of a society (Letters, Dec. 7) will be readily endorsed by all. Short cuts have become a way of life. People want to make the best of situations in the shortest possible time. Instead of blaming politicians for all the ills of society, let every individual consider how best he or she can reform so that the world becomes a better place to live in.

The argument is convenient and skewed. True, many people indulge in bribing to get things done. But what choice do they have? Running from pillar to post for even simple transactions?

Is there any working system to render justice to the suffering righteous?

Given a choice, people have always opted to be straightforward. There will always be groups eulogising Veerappans. They are part of society but do not constitute the public one must consider for perception and analysis.
