Autonomy the solution

This refers to the editorial "Get serious about flood assistance" (Dec. 7). Autonomy for States alone will bring a long lasting solution to problems arising from different political parties ruling the Centre and the States.

Given the magnitude of the loss inflicted by the floods, the Tamil Nadu Government has every reason to demand more financial assistance from the Centre. But how much of the funds allotted are utilised for the purpose they are intended in any government is a moot question.
