NEW DELHI: Bollywood's original ``He Man'' Dharmendra turned 70 on Thursday. In what would seem typical of the ``down-to-earth'' demeanour of this ``Garam Dharam'', as he is fondly called by the people in the film industry and thousands of his fans, the birthday of the actor-turned-MP remained a low-key affair. There were no celebrations at home, only a few ``Happy Birthday'' messages from family members and old film industry colleagues like Shatrughan Sinha. At a time when ``filmi birthday bashes'' are a rage, it was surprising to witness the ``superstar of yesteryears'' ushering in his birthday in such a ``low-key'' manner. His friends and colleagues point out that Dharmendra has stopped celebrating his birthday after his mother passed away. So while his contemporary in Bollywood and fellow MP Shatrughan Sinha wished ``a long life for my friend'', his wife and Rajya Sabha MP Hema Malini said, ``I wished him a happy birthday one day in advance. Sunny and Bobby (Dharmendra's sons and Bollywood stars) also wished him on phone today.''
