The Association of Dental Industry and Trade of India is organising the first Expodent International India Fair at Pragati Maidan here from this Friday. The three-day fair, which will now be an annual affair, will see the participation of more than 150 exhibitors from all over the world along with over 10,000 dental professionals from across the country. The expo will also see the launch of new products, which is expected to form part of state-of-the art technology for dental professionals in the country. "The Association of Dental Industry and Trade of India is the sole national association that represents the complete dental industry and trade in India and this dental exhibition is being organised in the Capital for the first time," explains the Chairman of the Organising Committee and President of the Association of Dental Industry and Trade of India, B. Subhash Chander Shetty. The event, according to the organisers, will present an opportunity to the entire dental community to see and understand the present scenario in the country, which is developing fast. At present, the country has the more than 80,000 practising dentists, about 200 dental colleges offering under-graduate and post-graduate programmes and there are as many as 11,000 fresh graduates passing out every year. The phenomenal growth of the industry in this country has already attracted worldwide attention and investment. "With a growth rate of 8.5 per cent per annum, the Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. After the boom in information technology, biotechnology, dental and medical tourism are taking top priority," says Dr. Shetty. The fair will be attended by a large number of dental surgeons, heads of educational institutions, students and members of the dental industry and trade in India. "The meeting will provide an opportunity to the dental industry from the world over to interact with the Indian industry and trade under one roof and to plan investment in the country. The Association of Dental Industry and Trade of India has taken upon itself the task of organising this international-standard exhibition," adds Dr. Shetty. Bindu Shajan Perappadan
