Rain likely in coastal Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: The cyclonic storm over southeast and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal moved slightly south westwards and lies centred at 0830 hrs IST of 8th December at about 650 km east southeast of Chennai. It is likely to intensify further and move in a westerly direction.

Dry weather prevailed over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.The minimum temperature fell appreciably to markedly at a few places over Coastal Karnataka, North Tamil Nadu, at one or two places over interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema, fell at one or two places over rest Tamil Nadu, rest interior Karnataka, rest Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and rest interior Karnataka and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably to markedly below normal at a few places over Telangana, North Tamil Nadu, at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and South interior Karnataka, below normal at one or two places over rest Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema,

Adilabad recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 7{+o} Celsius in the plains of the region.

Forecast (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and at a few places over interior Tamil Nadu. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Lakshadweep. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.

Gale Warning: Gale force wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph likely over coastal Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry from Friday morning.
