Probe charge against Vajpayee aide: Congress
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The Congress on Thursday demanded that the terms of reference of the Justice R.S. Pathak inquiry authority be expanded to go into the latest accusation that an unnamed close associate of the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihar Vajpayee, was involved in the Iraqi oil-for-food contracts.
Responding to questions, party spokesperson Anand Sharma said a report in the recent issue of a Hindi newsmagazine had reported the charge made by the former Governor, Romesh Bhandari, that a "very close associate" of Mr. Vajpayee had direct contact with Uday Hussein, son of Saddam Hussein.
