"LPG shortage will be overcome"

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Thursday said the shortage of LPG had largely been overcome and the situation would become normal by month-end.

Making a statement in the Rajya Sabha on a call-attention motion on LPG shortage and black marketing of kerosene, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said the overall physical shortage at present was only 1.5 per cent of the average monthly consumption of LPG. The situation was expected to normalise further with the restoration of production in Reliance India Limited (RIL) refinery from December 1. However, the backlog at the micro-level might vary from market to market for operational reasons.
