Pondicherry: R. Krishnaswamy alias Natesa Gounder, the father of Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, died at a government hospital here on Wednesday following a brief illness. He was 94. He is survived by wife, two sons (including Mr. Rangasamy) and three daughters. Among those who sent messages of condolences to Mr. Rangasamy were Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, AICC general secretary Ambika Soni, and secretary A. B. Krishnamoorthy, DMK president M. Karunanidhi and the former TNCC president, Kumari Anandhan. Pondicherry Lt. Governor M. M. Lakhera, Assembly Speaker M. D. R. Ramachandran, Pattali Makkal Katchi founder leader S. Ramadoss, TNCC president G. K. Vasan and Pradesh Congress Committee president P. Shanmugham offered their condolences.
