Mobile Medical Van for north coastal areas

  • Vehicle is expected to touch over 2.7 lakh rural people
  • It will serve 22 mandals of East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts
  • Rs. 35 lakhs set aside per annum for the project

    Rajahmundry: The AP Paper Mills Limited has launched Mobile Medical Van, under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to cater to the rural health needs of north coastal districts - Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts.

    Cover 100 km

    Executive Director of the mill R.C. Mall and President P.K. Soori flagged off the van in the mill premises. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mall said that the van will cover around 100 km everyday on a designated travel and coverage route and was expected to touch over 2.7 lakh rural people of 22 mandals in East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts. The van will have a team of one doctor, one male and female nurse.

    He said the van will act as a temporary medical camp and will have all the medicines and emergency equipment. He also said that they wanted to address some immediate medical problems and educate tribal and rural people about health and hygiene and guide them in taking appropriate action.

    They wanted to spend Rs. 35 lakhs per annum towards this project and stretch the amount according to need, Mr. Mall said.

    Borewells

    They were also going to dig borewells and provide financial assistance to educational institutions in rural areas wherever needed, the Executive Director added.

    Mr. P.K. Soori, President of the mill said that they wanted to play an active role in improving greenery, traffic islands and other basic infrastructure in Rajahmundry city.

    R. Rajendra Prasad, Chief Medical Officer of the mill, G. Kanna Rao, deputy general manager (P & A), NVSR Murty, HRD senior manager and other officials participated in the launching ceremony.
