Mysore Math passes away

Bangalore: The noted journalist and former Chairman of the Karnataka Media Academy S.G. Mysore Math passed away on Thursday. He was 80.

Mr. Math, a well-known orator in Kannada and English, initially worked with Vishala Karnataka before joining Deccan Herald where he retired as Chief Reporter. He was also an accomplished stage and film actor and acted in two films "Hamsageethe" and "Sadananda." He also wrote several books and translated several works of Rabindranath Tagore into Kannada. He also participated in the freedom struggle.

Mr. Math, who was born in Davangere, was the recipient of several awards, including the TSR Award and the Rajyotsava Award. He leaves two daughters and three sons.

Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh has mourned the death of Mr. Math. In a condolence message here, he said Mr. Math had served the field of journalism with distinction for over five decades.
