HYDERABAD:
Labour Minister G. Vinod gave an assurance to the Assembly on Thursday that the construction of a super speciality hospital of Employees State Insurance (ESI) here would commence in three months.
The Rs. 50-crore project was proposed at Qutbullapur on the city outskirts where Ranga Reddy district Collector identified a 12-acre site.
But, the Government wanted 25 acres for the purpose Mr. Vinod said, in reply to a question by Congress member D. Rajasekhar. Hyderabad was among the four centres in the country that were sanctioned super speciality hospitals by the ESI Corporation.
`Expedite process'
Mumbai and Kolkata had already taken up the project work but the State Government had not responded, Mr. Rajasekhar said.
He appealed to the Government to expedite the process as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were waiting to grab the opportunity should there be a slip-up here.
