Staff Correspondent

MYSORE: Twenty-four people were injured, six of them critically, when two goods Tempo vans in which they were travelling, rolled off the narrow road near Saligrama village in K.R. Nagar taluk on Thursday.

The police said a goods van, which was carrying 35 people from Saligrama to Bheriya in K.R. Nagar taluk, hit another vehicle, which was carrying 10 persons, from behind while trying to overtake it.

The rash and negligent driving by van drivers caused the accident. While one van fell into a roadside lake, the other fell into a ditch, the police said.

The drivers fled the scene after the accident. The critically injured included Shruthi, 3. The others have been identified as Sunitha, 28, Mamatha Rani, 30, Range Gowda, 32, Syed, 27, and Shyamala, 21. The critically injured were admitted to the K.R. Nagar Government Hospital.
