MYSORE: A two-year-old boy died after drinking contaminated water at Devarasanahalli in Nanjangud taluk on Wednesday. Four persons were admitted to hospital. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Krishnaswamy told The Hindu that Srikanta died after drinking contaminated water. Eight persons, who drank the water, complained of vomiting and diarrhoea. Four of them have been admitted to a hospital in Nanjangud. Dr. Krishnaswamy attributed the contamination to a leakage in the valve of the pipeline. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the boy died while he was being taken to hospital. Abishek Urs, Kumar, Marisiddaiah, Neelamma, Ratnamma, Tulasamma, Gagana and Sulochana were taken ill. President of the Nanjangud Municipality Saraswathi Narasimhaswamy has cautioned people to drink water only after boiling it.
