Bangladesh blasts kill nine

Dhaka : Nine persons were killed in twin blasts in Bangladesh on Thursday. A powerful bomb detonated in the northern town Netrokona killed at least eight persons and injured over 100, many seriously.

In western Meherpur town, one person was killed and 10 were injured in an explosion, police said. The police recovered leaflets of the banned Islamic outfit, Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh and splinters from the Netrokona blast scene after the suicide bomb attack, one of the deadliest in the recent cycle that started with countrywide bombings on August 17. — UNI
