Rs.10 lakh worth material handed out

CHENNAI: The office of the Administrator-General and Official Trustee (AG&OT) of Tamil Nadu distributed rice and relief materials worth Rs. 10 lakh to 2,200 flood-affected persons in Saidapet and Pulianthope.

The relief package comprised 5 kg of rice, a dhoti, a sari and a blanket, according to the High Court Judge-designate and incumbent AG&OT, S. Tamilvanan.

The two relief camps, in which two other Judge-designates -- Principal Sessions Judge P. Murugesan and Member-Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority, M. Jeyapaul -- also participated, were organised by a team of advocates, headed by Prison Adalat Counsel, V. Kannadasan.

While 1,000 beneficiaries received assistance at Saidapet, there were 1,200 at Pulianthope, said the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Arulraj.
