Winter school on astronomy

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre is organising a three-day winter school in astronomy and astrophysics for students of classes seven to nine from December 29 to 31. The programme would be held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m, at Birla Planetarium, Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Gandhimandapam Road. Blood donation

The Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch conducted a blood donation camp at Jeppiar Engineering College on Saturday. Fifty units of blood were collected at the camp organised by the Director of the college.

Huts gutted

A fire broke out at Nochikuppam, a fishing hamlet in Mylapore at 7.15 p.m., gutting 15 huts. No one was injured. Eight fire vehicles put out the flames in two hours. The cause for the fire is still being investigated. The huts were built very close to each other.

Medical camp

The Centre for the Welfare of the Aged (CEWA) organised a free medical camp for residents of MGR Colony, Anna Nagar, following the floods. About 170 persons were examined and medicines were distributed.

Red Cross volunteers visit school

Youth Red Cross volunteers of GSS Jain College for women visited Little Flower Convent, school for the visually impaired on Tuesday. They interacted with the students and presented a small cultural show.
