Poojary starts Congress campaign, takes out padayatra from Kutyaru

WOOING VOTERS: Rajya Sabha MP and the former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President B. Janardhana Poojary soliciting votes at a village near Mangalore during his padayatra.

MANGALORE: The former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President and Rajya Sabha Member Janardhana Poojary on Thursday launched the Congress campaign for the zilla and taluk panchayat elections in his own inimitable style.

Mr. Poojary thought it fit to start the campaign with a padayatra. Braving the mid-afternoon heat, he set out on the padayatra from Kutyaru accompanied by Congress workers.

During the ten-hour journey, Mr. Poojary visited over 23 villages including Bavaliguri, Harekala, Bagambila, Dabbal, Ambalamogaru, Ranipura, Gramachavadi and some others.

Speaking to The Hindu Mr. Poojary said this election is as significant as any other national and State level election. He said it is important that he visit every village in the district.
