Jewels stolen from two houses

CHENNAI: Twenty - five sovereigns of jewels were stolen from two houses in the city on Wednesday.

Police said thieves broke into the house of Dr. Jayagopal staying on Mookathal Street in Purasawalkam when the inmates were asleep, and decamped with 15 sovereigns of jewellery.

In the second incident in Puthoor village under Avadi Tank Factory police limits thieves burgled the house of Mahalingam, a mason, while the inmates were away and took away 10 sovereigns of jewellery.

Avadi Tank Factory police have registered a case and are investigating.
