BANGALORE: A girl aged 15, said to be a student, was found dead near a railway track in Mahadevapura police station limits on Thursday afternoon. The police suspect it to be a murder. Around 1.30 p.m., passers-by found the decomposed body of the girl in a pit near the railway tracks in a desolate area. The girl was wearing a school uniform, a light blue shirt and a dark blue skirt. It appears that she is a student of a government school. The dress on her body is similar to uniforms supplied by the Government to students of its schools, the police said. The body has been sent for autopsy to the Bowring Hospital. The police are making enquiries in the schools in the vicinity to establish the identity of the girl.
Businessman robbed
Two armed youths on Wednesday night waylaid a businessman in Ramamurthynagar police station limits and robbed him of Rs. 100 in cash and also his motorcycle. The police said that around 9 p.m., two youths stopped Narayanaswamy at OMBR Layout on the pretext of inquiring an address. They threatened Narayanaswamy with a knife and robbed him of money. They escaped on his motorcycle, the police said. On a complaint by Narayanaswamy, who owns a provision shop in Chikkabanaswadi, the Ramamurthynagar police have registered a case.
Student robbed
An alert public chased and caught two of the four youths who allegedly robbed a student of a mobile phone in Hebbal police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 11 p.m., four youths snatched a mobile phone from Manu, a student of Ambika Nursing College in Amarjyothinagar. As Manu raised an alarm, passers-by chased the youths and caught Prakash (19) and Vishal (19). On information given by them, the Hebbal police arrested their two other accomplices Pramod (24) and Kalapattar (21). All the accused are students, the police said.
Agent killed
A real estate agent, who was attacked with choppers and clubs by an underworld gang on November 30, died at a hospital on Thursday. The police said that following a dispute over a land deal, a gang led by Korangu Krishna had attacked Mandya Krishna at his house in Laggere. The Rajagopalanagar police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
Woman arrested
The MICO Layout police have arrested a woman from Kolkata on charge of theft and recovered from her gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs. 3.95 lakhs. The police said they arrested Soma Mandal alias Souchida (23) in Kolkota. The accused, living in Wilson Garden here, was working as a domestic help, had stolen the jewellery from houses in MICO Layout, Madivala and Koramangala police station limits, the police said.
Arrested for robbery
In another case, the MICO Layout police have arrested eight youths who had allegedly waylaid and robbed people of gold ornaments and mobile phones.
