Bangalore: Veteran violinist Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, who combines traditional Carnatic music and light music in a unique style, delighted the Bangalore Habba crowd at the Ambedkar Bhavan on Thursday evening.

Earlier, the Saralaya Sisters presented a Carnatic vocal concert at the same venue, with a more conventional approach.

For the lovers of Bharatanatyam, there were two rare delights by well-known dancers.

Padma Subramanyam, whose research into the dance form is known, performed at the JSS auditorium in Jayanagar.

Another performance was by Vasundhara Doreswamy. Both the events were packed with an appreciative audience. Yet another dance performance was by Ashok Kumar and his troupe at the Gayana Samaja.

For those who are into Hindustani classical music, Susheela Mehta's vocal concert provided moments of delight.

Remarkable plays

Theatre is flourishing again in Bangalore, the Habba offered some remarkable plays on Thursday.

Veterans and Lilette Dubey and Pratap Sharma staged "Sammy" at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.

Another play, "Nirvanam" was presented by Preetham Chakravarthy's troupe at Rangashankara. The Habba organisers have asked people attending the progammes to come with enough warm clothing to carry them through the night. The minimum temperatures are expected to touch 14 degrees Celsius over the weekend.
