`Jalasaksharata' project launched

Thiruvananthapuram: `Jalasaksharata,' the State Government's initiative for water conservation, was launched by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at a function here on Thursday. A `Jalayatra' was taken out from Plamoodu pond to Padmatheertham. Presiding over the function, Minster for Water Resources Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said five conventions would be held as part of the scheme.

Hot air balloon flight

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of attracting youth to adventure sports, the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board will offer hot air balloon flight at the Chandarsekharan Nair Stadium here on December 15 and 16. The flight will be offered on both days from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., according to the member secretary of the board. Two students nominated from each school, NCC, Scouts and Guides will get the opportunity to travel in the hot air balloon, as also those selected from the visitors who arrive at the stadium. — Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC vice-president Thalekkunnil Basheer has urged Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to allow filling up of the retirement vacancies in the State's universities.
