This Day That Age
The Railway Minister, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, announced in Lucknow on November 9 that the Railway authorities would issue seasonal platform tickets at all stations. The rates of the seasonal tickets would be for bigger stations Rs. 20 yearly, Rs. 11 half-yearly, Rs. 6 quarterly, and Rs. 2 monthly, and for small stations Rs. 10 yearly, Rs. 6 half-yearly, Rs. 3 quarterly and one rupee monthly. Newspaper reporters and agents would be given concession to the extent of one-fourth of these rates. Monthly tickets would not be issued to them.
