Refresher courses in Bharathiar University

Coimbatore: The UGC - Academic Staff College of Bharathiar University will organise two orientation programmes and a number of refresher courses from December this year to March next.

A release said that the courses would be in environmental science, bioinformatics, information technology, biological science, biotechnology, microbial biotechnology, genetics, instructional technology and evaluation (all inter-disciplinary), commerce, mathematics, computer science, Tamil, physics, chemistry, history, economics, costume design and fashion, international business and linguistics.

Service

College and university teachers who had already completed a year of service could attend the orientation programmes. Teachers, who had already attended an orientation programme, could apply for refresher courses in various subjects.

Teachers in any discipline could attend the refresher courses in information technology, and instructional technology and evaluation. Teachers of biological science could attend refresher courses in bioinformatics, biological sciences, biotechnology, microbial biotechnology and genetics.

Any science teacher could attend the refresher course in environmental science. Teachers could attend the courses in the subjects they taught. Participants were eligible for travelling allowance and dearness allowance in accordance with the norms of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Copies of the application form could be obtained from the Director, UGC - Academic Staff College, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore - 641046, by sending a self-addressed and stamped (Rs. 5) envelope.

The application form could also be downloaded from www.b-u.ac.in, the University website. Filled-in applications should be forwarded by the respective principals and secretaries of the colleges concerned to the Director, UGC - Academic Staff College, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore - 641046, at an early date.

Late applications will be considered subject to availability of seats.
