Numeric to market Panasonic SLA batteries

Staff Correspondent

CHENNAI: Panasonic Industrial Asia Pte Ltd (a member of Panasonic - Japan) has appointed Numeric Power Systems as national distributor for its SLA batteries.

Launching the distributor arrangement in Chennai on Friday, R. Chellappan, Managing Director of Numeric Power Systems, said the tie-up would offer a complete range of Panasonic high performance SLA batteries to the Indian market directly and through their appointed channel partners.

Mr. Chellappan said Numeric Systems had already been using Panasonic batteries for its UPS systems.

Initially, Numeric would sell seven models of the batteries. Numeric was expected to realise a turnover of $10 million in the first year of distribution, of which $6 million would come from its own consumption.

The balance would come from the replacement market and other OEMs.

The Indian operations head of Panasonic Industrial Asia Pte Ltd, Kozhikizawa, said the Indian market was growing multi-fold and a continuous demand for quality products.
