Three held; three trucks, goods seized

HUBLI: The Dharwad district Police have unearthed a racket of cement adulterated with stone powder and have arrested three persons in this connection. Three trucks, machinery and goods worth Rs. 20 lakhs have been seized.

The names of the arrested have been given as Lonchand Kesarimal Jain, a resident of Shilvantar Oni, Hubli, and drivers, Gurulingyya Gurumath Kundapurad and Mohammad Abdul Bari of Kalghatgi.

The incident of adulterating cement with stone powder and other ingredients came to light following a tip-off. The police raided Swastik Industries situated at Chalamatti Cross in Kalghatgi taluk.

The police said the accused bought cement manufactured by various reputed companies and then mixed it with stone powder and other ingredients. They sold it under the brand name of Swastik with an ISI mark on the cement bags.

A case has been registered by the Hubli Rural Police.
