Bidar: As many as 182 candidates are in the fray for the 31 zilla panchayat seats in Bidar, while 568 are in the race for the 118 taluk panchayat seats. The Congress has fielded the highest number of candidates with 31 nominees. Nominees of the Bharatiya Janata Party are contesting from 30 seats, Janata Dal (Secular) 29 seats, Samajwadi Party 23 seats, All India Progressive Janata Dal 12, Bahujan Samaj Party at 11, Nationalist Congress Party in five, Republican Party of India 3, Janata Dal (United) 2 and CPI one seat. There are 35 independents. The Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) are contesting all the 23 seats in Bidar taluk. The BJP has fielded candidates for 21 seats, Samajwadi Party 14, AIPJD 11, BSP 5, and CPI and NCP one each. There 29 independents. There are 23 seats in Aurad taluk. Syed Mohammed of the Congress has been elected unopposed from Chintaki. The Congress has fielded 23 candidates, BJP (22), Janata Dal (Secular) 12, Samajwadi Party (eight), BSP (four) and Republican Party of India (two). There are six independents. Bhalki taluk panchayat has 23 seats. The Congress, the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) have fielded candidates from all the seats. There are 21 independents. The BSP is contesting 10 seats, Samajwadi Party three and CPI and NCP have fielded one candidate each. Basava Kalyan taluk panchayat has 130 candidates fighting for 25 seats. The Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) have fielded candidates from all seats, the BJP has 18, Samajwadi Party 11, Nationalist Congress Party 10, AIPJD 9, Janata Dal (United) 8, Bahujan Samaj Party two and RPI one
