`Personal computers are just an element of digitisation'

BANGALORE:
India needs to step-up its broadband penetration to realise the full potential unfurled by the digital technology spanning video, photography, music, Internet, wireless technologies and home entertainment, said Bill Gates.
"Personal computers are just an element of digitisation. Software is the glue that connects it all together. But, broadband is exactly the infrastructure needed for achieving the digital capability and investments in broadband would drive the full realisation of the digital lifestyle,'' Mr. Gates said while delivering the keynote at the inauguration of Digital Lifestyle 2005 being organised by the Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology here on Friday. Mr. Gates announced that Microsoft was formulating plans to bring the high definition gaming device christened XBox 360 to India.
