Coimbatore: The Centre for Women's Studies, Avinashilingam University and Springboard, a women's development programme recently organised a workshop here. The main aim of the programme was to enable career women balance profession and home, said one of the resource persons, Usha Pathania, Director, the Centre for Women's Studies, Himachal Pradesh.
Constant stress
Women were multi-task takers. But, they were under constant stress and rarely got time for themselves, said Pooja N. Sharma, licensed Springboard trainer. Sponsored by the British Council, the programme was launched in India in 2005. They selected 11 trainers from universities and non-Government organisations across the country. Springboard will conduct three more workshops at the Centre for Women's Studies, Avinashilingam University, over a period of four months. Each workshop would have a guest speaker to interact with the participants, Ms. Sharma said. "The workshop is going to be just a facilitator. The programme had been conducted in 18 countries including Saudi Arabia and the response was overwhelming, said Ms. Pathania.
