Chappell's offer to BCCI

Mumbai: Greg Chappell has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Sharad Pawar, that he would like to discuss and offer inputs to improve the quality of India's domestic senior tournaments. "Chappell wants India's first class cricketers to be prepared, mainly on the fitness count, so that their transition to the National side becomes smooth,'' said a BCCI source.

According to the source, Chappell has been interacting with physical trainer Gregory King, physiotherapist John Gloster and biomechanical expert Ian Frazer since July and has been receiving regular feedback on the fitness level of the players.

It is learnt that Mr. Pawar has assured the support staff that their contractual obligations with the Indian team would be made formal at the earliest. Last June, the board offered a contract running up to the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies with Chappell, the same, however, has not been executed with Frazer and also the rest of the support staff. — Special Correspondent
